Big Day for Our Big Boy Super Genius

Today is the day...a very special day!  Our Big Boy Super Genius turns FIVE years old today!  He woke up to his favorite breakfast in bed...chocolate sprinkle donuts, cheesy bacon omelette, apple slices and hot chocolate!  He was already snuggled in close to Daddy and enjoying the warmth of our bed but I woke up in time to make his breakfast and come back before he woke up for the day!

He informed me that the genius way to eat a birthday breakfast was to have me feed him every bite!  Wow!  I hope this trend does not continue through the day!

We already started the celebration on Monday as we made a trip to the Witte museum to explore the Crime Scene Investigation exhibit.  He really enjoyed the hands on activities as we tried to solve the tricky crime.

Then we let him go into an amazing toy store with "Gramma money" to spend on a Lego set of his choice.  He chose well...he found a dragon set with castle, knights and even a princess (I had no idea LEGO had diversified so much!).  He was so excited to come out of the store to show his brothers the newest addition to our LEGO collection!

He had super smart lunch to warm us up...Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and Tomato Soup along with Apple Slices...very smart combination...and yes it really was his idea!

Then we spent the rest of the afternoon putting the LEGO set together!  No small feat with over 300 pieces!  We almost had it complete when we realized our new friends (Joey and Brian) were on their way over for the chocolate mint ice cream cake!  They were so sweet!  They brought a glow in the dark basketball, angry bird car and skateboarding shirt!  Brendan was so pleased and surprised by the gifts!

We ended the day with an order of hamburgers for dinner!  I think we were all worn out from the day and so much food!  We fell asleep exhausted from all the fun!

One thing I did not have...candles!  SO...I decided that even though the official birthday was celebrated earlier in the week...we need another birthday cake today WITH candles!  I think molten chocolate cake is a good idea!

Oh!  And I will send out another blog post after Sunday to show the fun the boys have at their first hockey game!  The birthday goes on forever!  I am sure it will be a great time of male bonding!  The girls and I have other plans!  No icy crashes for us!
