Holy Week 2016

I thought the best way to share our Holy Week would be to post a photo journey of our week...we were so blessed and thankful for all who made our week special, most of all our priest...Fr. Hall!

On Palm Sunday, Fr. Hall blessed the palms as he entered the church.

On Monday, we had the joy of going to the Chrism Mass for the Diocese of Monterey.  Here we not only shared in the blessing of the oils for the entire diocese but were able to watch as the priests renewed their fidelity to the bishop and their vows.

On Wednesday, we had our traditional family Seder Meal.  We were able to invite ten others in our community to join us.

We started Holy Thursday with a gift for the children.  I did not realize how much they would enjoy this LEGO set...but it began an entire set up of the Biblical events of the week.  I hope to share this with you through our LEGO blog soon!

Holy Thursday Mass was full of meaning and such a blessing to attend...

The night watch began and it seems that our drill sergeant wanted to be a good example...I have always loved this statue that stands above the area near the chapel, but to night he just seemed to hold such great symbolism.

On Good Friday, we were able to attend a live Stations of the Cross at a local parish.  I could never show all the photos we took that afternoon but here are some of the highlights...

After this amazing story retold before us, we raced over to the chapel for the Veneration of the Cross.

On Holy Saturday, we had the solemn Mass that opened us up to the joy of Easter Sunday!

We began our morning with hot cross buns and big Easter eggs...

Then we entered into the amazing joy of Easter Sunday...

Of course, we also had an Easter egg hunt...first at the chapel and then we had a community hunt for all of our neighbor children.  Such a fun way to bring the meaning of life to the holiday...and fun to watch!  I will share our egg hunt in a different post.
