Let freedom ring! Happy 4th of July!
We were up early this morning to get out the door in time to get to the airport. No one had a problem getting ready but we ended up leaving about 30 minutes later than planned....that was OK as traffic was not bad and we made it to Houston in record time. We even had time to sit and try to determine which escalator Michael would come down. It was also nice to sit as most of us were not feeling well...we have summer colds and very congested. We did not let this get us down as we were practically floating on air anticipating his arrival.
We saw that his flight has landed so we chose a spot and watched for him...wouldn't you know...we picked the wrong one and he surprised us instead! LOL! We were so excited that we almost forgot his luggage!
We had hoped Zaira would walk to Michael but she was not up to it in a crowded room of strangers! Again that was OK...as we really just wanted to hug Michael and get out of the building!
We have a tradition to go to a favorite pancake house after picking up any one from the airport. Even though we were not feeling well, it had been almost 12 hours since any of us had eaten...so we decided to go to the restaurant. We all ordered simple meals and headed out to the van. Unfortunately, one of us did not make it without throwing up her meal! UGH! I am not sure if it was car sickness or just the congestion, but that was totally unexpected!
The trip home was spent with Michael and I switching off driving so we could all rest....most of the children slept the entire way home!
We had planned to grill this evening but after the above mentioned episode decided we would put it off until this weekend.
It was probably a good thing because after much deliberation upon our return...we had to take some time to dig up our driveway! Why would we do this?....you might ask. Well something about a VERY HIGH water bill might be a good reason! Yep...our main water line burst!
SO...Michael's first activity upon his return was not to enjoy a fireworks show...but to dig a hole and change out a pipe on the main line! So much fun!
SO you might think, we had a bad holiday...but that is not true...we had a great day! Michael is home...he is here to help me through this crazy day! I have my helpmate! Praise God! God is good!
And, we did manage to get to see the firework show! So we did celebrate a little in spite of it all! Zaira enjoyed her first fireworks show. Brendan said it was cool! Edward and Sean acted as if they were conducting the show! It was a great show starting with Amazing Grace and a prayer for the nation and ending with a tribute to the military.
